Marksmen to roll out friendly schedule for remaining 2020 season
The 2020 season was to be our official return to American sanctioned league soccer but the unfortunate realities of the global pandemic related to CoVid-19 put a halt to our on field operations along with our fellow BSSL club members.
Although the states of Massachusetts & Rhode Island have now begun to ease restrictions and roll out protocols that allow for training and games to take place, including the potential return to league play, the Marksmen have opted to officially remove themselves from 2020 BSSL league play.
With our roster comprising of an assortment of essential workers & family caregivers, we’ve chosen to respect them and their loved ones by providing them environment where they can safely remain engaged in the sport & our club without the pressures of a league schedule potentially forcing them to make an uncomfortable choice.
We are 100% committed to the BSSL and returning to league play in the spring of 2021 and will be using our remaining time from now until first kick in 2021 to perfect our operations to include the potential of having to train and play out league matches in an environment where viral concerns may still be present. We will be playing a select handful of friendly matches this season if the conditions allow for it and we look forward to sharing these potential match-ups with you in the near future.
We appreciate everyone’s support and we can’t wait to finally dig into some league action and begin our journey towards the top of U.S. club soccer. We ‘d also like to thank the BSSL for their commitment to providing quality top flight amateur soccer as well as proving teams a platform to address their personal needs during these uncertain times.
We'll see you soon New England, until then, mask up, extend a helping hand to others, support local business and be the positive difference in our communities.
Your’s in Soccer,
Fall River Marksmen FC
